Sonas Parents' Association at Sonas Special Junior Primary School have been a great support to the school. Throughout the year they have raised money in order to acquire learning and sensory resources for the children. They have also funded tours and trips during the year including Kennedy’s Farm, Kool Kidz Play Centre and the Railway Village in Clonakilty.
The parent’s association organise the annual graduation party each June for the school leavers.
At the beginning of the 2014/2015 school year, Sonas was asked by the NCSE to expand from 4 to 7 classes. In order to accommodate this, a second building was required. Sonas Heron’s Wood opened its doors in August 2014 where great support was given by parents to move furniture and prepare a learning environment for the children as well as parents working together to form a sensory garden in Heron’s Wood (pictured below)
